HOW ARE EYE INJURIES TREATED?

Our eyes are an important aspect of our daily lives, which is why it’s so important to seek out help immediately if you find yourself with an eye injury. It’s important that if you have an injury to one or both of your eyes you:

  • Do not remove the foreign object
  • Find someone else to drive you to our office
  • Do not put anything in your eye (tweezers, fingers, etc.)
  • Do not rub, touch, or put pressure on your eye
  • Do not put any medication or cream on your eye
  • Do not attempt to take your contact out if you have one in

When you get to our office, we will first assess the damage to your eye. From there, we will make a treatment plan and help you accordingly. Once we’ve removed any foreign object from your eye or treated the damage, we will help you understand how to help your eye heal at home. In some cases, we may refer you to an eye specialist or suggest you follow up with your ophthalmologist if you have one.
