What Are Flu Immunizations?
Every fall and winter, men, women, and children enter the "flu season." During this season, the flu (influenza) virus is very contagious during this period and is easily spread between friends, co-workers, and family members. The duration and severity of flu season vary from year to year, but we always suggest our patients get a flu immunization to help ward off this sickness. At MedNorth Urgent Care, we offer quick appointments for getting your flu shot and getting back to your everyday activities with peace of mind. Visit Drs. Shane Hill and Scott Rundle at our Kalispell, MT clinic today.
What Can I Expect When Getting the Flu Shot?
When you come into MedNorth Urgent Care, we'll help you determine if you should get the flu shot and which is best for you. We'll look at things, like your medical history, current health, and allergies. While it's possible to still get the flu after receiving the vaccine, it should decrease how badly you get it and shorten the length of time it impacts you. It will also greatly reduce the possibility of serious complications. When giving you the shot, we'll sterilize the injection site and insert the vaccine using a small needle. For the next day or two, you may experience a low-grade fever, body aches, as well as irritation and swelling at the injection site. This is normal, but if you experience more serious symptoms, you may want to come back in or give us a call.
